Audience research conclusions
From our questionnaire results, you can
see that the audience would like to see a horror/crime movie filmed in an abandoned
house with ghosts and psychopaths rather than things like killer clowns, which
wouldn’t work for our trailer. This information will help us with making our
trailer, as the feedback given from people will show us how to make it
appealing to our audience.
Genre
Our trailer will be a hybrid genre film,
because it will feature both horror and crime. For our horror movie, we will
follow the typical conventions, as we will be seen using things like ghosts,
creepy sound effects, moving objects and jump scares. These will also be linked
to the crime genre, as you will see someone getting kidnapped at the start of
our trailer.
Content/structure
We haven’t chosen a title for our movie
yet, as we are planning on doing that once we have made the trailer. In our
trailer we won’t be revealing the story that much, as this will spoil the movie
for the audience – we are only going to show a few different parts of the movie
which will attract the audience, we will do this by using quick cuts. Our trailer
will be structured in a way, where the story will be told from the beginning,
middle and end. This will help with showing the audience how there are drastic
changes throughout different parts in the movie.
Audience
We are planning on making the target
audience males and females, from any age group, which are interested in the
genre of our movie – horror and crime. The trailer we are going to produce will
appeal to our audience, as it’s going to follow the typical conventions of
popular horror movies today.
Representation
Our trailer will represent the different
characters, as it will show you how they act to the different things going on.
We won’t be using stereotypical representations for some of the characters, for
example one of the female characters will act more like a guy, and will be very
confident when it comes to helping with the things going on. We will use
representations typical to the genre; for instance, when the girl is getting
kidnapped she will appear frightened.
Institution
Our trailer will be distributed as a film campaign, and we won't
be releasing any other products alongside our trailer. Synergy will be created
across our campaign because we will make our adverts very similar across each platform,
we will do this by using the same colours for example. Our trailer will be
distributed onto Youtube, as it's a very popular website where people usually
post their trailers.
